3 Work:Life Balance Tips

Many of you know I am a mom of a 2 year old. I never knew how much time I had been wasting when I was younger until I had a child of my own. Staying up late hanging out with friends, taking naps in the afternoon… like almost everyday, and in general the freedom of doing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Of course, I wouldn’t give up being mom for any of that. Becoming a mother has driven me into a completely better person; no joke!

My husband and daughter inspire me to be better everyday. I do this business for the joy it brings me but also so that in 10 years my hubby can retire if he wants, and my girl can go to college without debt. Although, I am learning that “full-time” doterra for me does not mean 40 hours a week. Over the past month or so that I have been embracing my entrepreneurship I have learned a few things:

  1. God is #1 — Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” This has saved my life y’all! The first 2 weeks I was out on my own I was going crazy with stress and anxiety. Then, I said “HOLD UP” God has my back! I am in alignment with what He has planned for my life and I need to chill out.

  2. Family comes next! — Yes, I could work 40 hours a week BUT time with my daughter during the day is priceless time I can never get back. I know not all moms have the opportunity that I have but if it is allowed in your schedule to be present with your children often, please do. I lost my mom 4 years ago and maybe that’s why I hold time with daughter so highly. I owe her this time and I will NOT feel guilty.

  3. Schedule like a BOSS! — My best work weeks are done when I take the time during the weekend to schedule out my upcoming week. There is nothing more stressful for me when I have an hour to work, and I go to sit down and I have 1,000 places to start. Scheduling hour blocks at a time are golden nuggets for me! I like to have 1-2 tasks that I can focus on per time block. Multi-tasking is fine when you have to but not the best.

Most importantly, it’s what fits you and your lifestyle. No one can tell you the exact steps required to have the perfect work/life balance. I love to try different ways out, keep what works for me, and throw the rest out! Remember life doesn’t change overnight. It’s all about the small changes you can do everyday
